Message from the Faculty

kevinKevin Keenan: “I am an urban geographer interested in studying how people interpret vulnerability to hazards, particularly terrorism, through everyday places that they experience.  The goal of my work is to improve resiliency of American cities by linking subjective experiences of places with personal and household actions that both attenuate and amplify vulnerability.

markMark Long is a political geographer trained in Ireland, Spain, and the US.  “I am interested in the emergence and functioning of state spaces, in their traditional guise and at new scales in the shape of the European Union.  I am also fascinated by ways in which landscape photography reflects key geographic processes at different scales worldwide, and have curated landscape photography shows here in Charleston”.  Long coordinates and directs study abroad in Trujillo, Spain, where students can study geography, political science, and international business through his course offerings.
